Are you interested in exploring all the naturally created structures in Minecraft? But you find yourself a bit lost and don’t know where to start. Well, due to the variety of structures in different locations, it’s no wonder that players need help. So, in this guide, we’ll explain everything you need to know about the Woodland Mansion, one of the most unique structures in Minecraft.
What is the Woodland Mansion?
The Woodland Mansion is a massive structure in the overworld. It has three floors, with random pre-generated rooms that have their own stories, challenges, and loot. The structure is made mostly of wood, specifically dark oak for the walls and ceiling and birch wood for the floor.
If there is a gap between the ground and this structure, a cobblestone foundation will generate underneath the woodland mansion. Since the structure is intentionally quite dark inside, you will find hostile mobs roaming around.

Apart from the regular hostile mobs, the woodland mansion is home to two types of Illagers – Evoker and Vindicator. They are strong hostile mobs in Minecraft that portray evil versions of the villagers in the game. Vindicators are iron axe-wielding mobs that are quite dangerous in groups.

Speaking of dangerous mobs, the second Illager type in this structure is an Evoker. It represents a spell master who can summon spikes and evil fairy-like creatures – Vex – from the ground to cause damage.
Vex have iron swords which are their preferred weapon and have small hitboxes, so they are quite difficult to kill. They are the only mobs in the game that can pass through blocks, so boxing yourself in an area will not protect you from Vex.

How to Find a Woodland Mansion in Minecraft
Woodland mansions usually generate far from the spawn point and only in dark oak forests. Here are a few ways you can find this structure.
1. Woodland Explorer Map
You can easily locate a Woodland Mansion, thanks to villagers. Journeyman-level Cartographer villagers sell the Woodland Explorer Map for 14 emeralds and a compass. If you follow the map , it will lead you straight to the Woodland Mansion. However, it doesn’t have to be the closest mansion.

2. Using the command
So, if you don’t want to waste a lot of time, you can also use commands to locate the Woodland Mansion. Press T to open the chat, type the below command, and press Enter.

If cheats are disabled in the world you are playing in, you can temporarily enable them. Pause the game and click the “ Open to LAN ” button. Then, select Allow Cheats: ON and click the Start LAN World button.
List of rooms in Minecraft’s Woodland Mansion
Every woodland mansion has a system of corridors that connect all the rooms on each floor. There are also large staircases that connect the floors. The top floor is significantly smaller than the other two, but no less interesting. There are no two identical woodland mansions, but the rooms inside them have recognizable patterns.
Woodland mansions have two types of rooms: main rooms and secret rooms.
The main rooms can be accessed through corridors, although sometimes they are completely closed due to their strange generation. Secret rooms have no entrances, so the player must find them. Secret rooms are far more rare than main rooms.
Also, not all the different rooms are built in every mansion, as there are so many of them. Some rooms in a woodland mansion are regular, realistic, functional rooms, while others can be quite dangerous and hostile. Here is a list of all the rooms in a woodland mansion:
Main rooms
Bedroom
Since this is the Illagars’ mansion, there are a few bedrooms to stay in . You will find bedrooms with single beds, double beds or triple beds. The term ‘bedroom’ is used loosely here, as these rooms do not have any beds but only blocks of wool and carpets.
Bedrooms with single beds are safe, while bedrooms with triple beds and double beds are not safe as they give birth to vengeful people inside. The bedrooms are also decorated moderately.

dining rooms
Dining rooms in woodland mansions can be small, medium or large in size. They include a table and stairs made of oak planks, oak stairs as chairs, and decorations such as light sources, carpets and potted flowers.
These usually have chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The larger version always has an Evoker and two Vindicators .

Library
Just like the dining rooms, the libraries in the Woodland Mansion also vary based on their size. The structure has small, medium, and large libraries.
As you might have guessed, each version has a different number of bookshelves and a seating area. They can also be decorated with potted flowers.

Flower rooms/gardens
The flower room has a variety of potted flowers, such as alliums, blue orchids, blue jasmines and oxeye daisies. Some of these are specifically dedicated to a certain flower such as the allium room (there are eight alliums in the chest) or a white tulip room .
Besides this, you can also see a natural room which houses a dark oak tree artificially grown from a single plant.

Planning the room
The planning rooms are intended to show the preparation and hard work the Illagers put in to plan the takeover of the Overworld. They include an office, conference room, and a map room. The office is a room with two tables made of cobblestone, oak stairs as chairs, and potted flowers and carpets as decoration.
The Conference Room is a large room with a table and some decorations. This room alone spawns one Evoker and five Vindicators. The Map Room has a large table with colorful carpets, bookshelves, and decorations representing the world. This room spawns one Evoker and two Vindicators.

Functional rooms
Functionally, for the Illagers, the rooms include storage rooms and a forge room. Storage rooms can be small or large. The smaller one contains shelves on which single chests are stored. The large storage room is similar, but instead of single chests, it contains double chests.
These rooms always contain empty chests and only one Vindicator spawns in each type. The Forge Room is made of polished andesite blocks. In addition, there are two lava sources and a damaged anvil. One Vindicator always spawns there.

Farm Room
The Woodland Mansion Farm room contains mostly crop fields, which villagers probably use to grow food. They are the wheat farm, plant farm, mushroom farm, and two-stage pumpkin and melon farm. The wheat farm room contains a small piece of farmland with wheat crops planted on it.
It reminds us of a rural farm, just instead of oak logs, the Illagers have dark oak logs. The sapling farm doesn’t work at all , because there are so many dark oak saplings planted and even more saplings in a chest. Who knows, maybe the Illagers have figured out a way to clone the plants.

The mushroom farm has a small dark space where mushrooms can be born and grow. There is also an empty chest in this room. The two-stage pumpkin and melon farm is a small and compact area where pumpkins are planted below and melons above.
Also, this is not an automatic farm, as there are no redstone components. A Vindicator spawns in this room.Related Articles
Statue Room
The statue rooms are quite strange rooms, with a huge statue made of wool in the middle . These include a room with a cat statue, a room with a chicken statue and a room with an illegitimate statue. The room with the cat statue has a black cat statue, while the room with the chicken statue has a plain chicken statue.
The Illager Statue Room shows a giant Illager, possibly an evoker, holding a torch-like object. This statue is different from the other two because it has a hidden treasure inside. If you dig up the head of the Illager, you will find a whole block of lapis lazuli, which possibly resembles wisdom and knowledge.

Strange Illegator Rooms
These rooms depict the brutality and ugliness of the outlaws. They include a ritual room, a prison room, and an arena room.
The ritual room is a strange room made mostly of stone with some carpets and banners as decoration. This shows that the Illagers have some kind of god that they respect and worship. This room spawns an Evoker and two Vindicators.

The prison rooms are built in two sizes – small and large. The small prison room has a cobblestone box with a cauldron and brown carpet and an iron door as the entrance. A guard guards this prison near a table and chair made of oak planks and stairs.
The large jail room is very similar, just much larger. This is the room where you can find up to 3 ales in Minecraft . A Vindicator spawns in this room. In addition to the regular jail rooms, the Woodland Mansion also has a redstone jail room.
There is also a large cobblestone box with an iron door. You can enter this prison by activating a lever on one side of the door. A revenant always spawns here.
The Arena room has an arena-like structure in the middle with a ring of fences surrounding it. In addition, there is a staircase leading up to a scaffolding above the arena, where a loot box is created. This room possibly hints that Illagers find it entertaining to watch and watch the battles.
Random Rooms
These woodland mansion rooms have no particular theme or function. They can include mostly empty rooms with interesting decorations, while others may also contain boxes for easy loot. Random rooms are:
- Wool Room – Three stacks of wool blocks of different colors.
- Tree-Cutting Room – An artificial black oak tree and a chest containing an iron axe with the Efficiency enchantment.
- Room with a Winding Staircase – A room with a long spiral staircase that leads up to a loot box.
- Illager Head Room – Empty room with Illager Head pixel art made from wool blocks.
- Pumpkin Ring Room – Ring of cobblestone blocks with railing on top and a rotating pumpkin overlooking the entrance.
- Checkerboard Room – Checkerboard carpet pattern with loot chest above the door.
- Birch Arch Room – This room has a birch arch made of birch stairs, slabs and fence, and a small desk with some decorations in one corner.
- Gray Banner Room – Large altar-like construction made of cobblestone hides a loot box behind it. A Revenant spawns here.
- Hallway with Wooden Arches – Several arches made of dark oak logs, loot boxes, and a Vindicator.

Secret rooms
X Room
The X Room gets its name from the cobblestone pattern on the walls that represents the letter X. There is a loot chest in one corner of this room. Apart from that, the X Room is the most common secret room and can be created on any floor.
The Spider Room
The spider room in the Woodland Mansion, believe it or not, is a monster spawner room . The regular spider spawner is surrounded by lots of cobwebs.
So, if you hear a lot of spider noises while exploring this structure, there is a high probability that you have come across a spider room. Moreover, this room can be generated on any floor.
Fake End Portal Room
This room is one of the secret clues related to progression in Minecraft. The fake end portal room in the Woodland Mansion mirrors an end portal room in a stronghold in Minecraft. There are cobblestone stairs leading to a ring of green wool , which resembles end portal frame blocks, with orange wool underneath, which resembles lava.
Across the stairs is a trapped chest with two TNT blocks on either side on the green wool blocks. The chest contains two ender pearls. Also, all the completed cobblestone blocks are not regular, but infected.
If the trap is triggered, the cobblestone blocks will explode, revealing silverfish that will quickly swarm on the player. So, before reaching the chest, break those TNT blocks. This room can only generate on the first floor.
The Obsidian Room
This room looks a bit dull at first glance, as all you can see is a few obsidian blocks in the middle . However, even though it’s painful, start mining that obsidian, and you’ll be rewarded. In the center of the obsidian formation is a whole block of diamonds. This secret room has a chance to generate on any floor.
Birch Pillar Room
The name of the Birch Pillar Room is pretty self-explanatory. In this secret room, you will find four birch pillars rising up to the ceiling. Even though this is a secret room, the only reward you will get here is some birch planks and possibly some hostile mobs. This room can be built on any floor.

clean storage room
This is a great secret room to find. It’s an empty room with a loot chest in it. The room is pretty well lit, so you don’t have to worry about a creeper blowing up the chest. This room can only be created on the first floor.
attic room
The attic room is one of those rooms that do not attract anyone’s attention, as it contains nothing except some separate wooden blocks that form a large wooden structure. However, there is more to it than meets the eye.
If you climb the pillar up to the ceiling and break a block, you will find a new dark platform above. This is where you will find two loot boxes on either end. This room is located on the second or third floor of the Woodland Mansion.
Lava Room
The lava room is the rarest secret room in a woodland mansion and it looks quite impressive too. It is a large room constructed of obsidian and glass and has lava inside.
Just like in the Obsidian Room, there is a true reward hidden inside. There is a whole diamond block inside the lava that you can mine. Before doing this, remove the lava so that the item does not burn.
How to Find the Secret Rooms in the Woodland Mansion
Sometimes, it can be difficult to locate the secret room in this structure, which is the issue. In the case of the Spider Room or the Lava Room, unusual sounds can easily reveal the location of the room.
However, when it comes to the other rooms, there is no clear indication of their existence. Keep in mind that these rooms are quite rare, and you may even have to explore a few mansions before you find your first secret room. We can give you some advice on finding these secret rooms.
Break the Illusion Pixel Art
The Illegator pixel art above the stairs connecting the second and third floors can hide the entrance to a secret room. It’s always your best bet to try and break it. You might even get lucky and reveal a rare room.
look through the windows
Thanks to the windows, you can see inside the mansion and explore it safely. This way, you can easily find the room you’re looking for if it’s already built. This is a great tip, but it doesn’t work on secret rooms on the bottom floor, as there are no windows there.
Punch holes in the walls or tear down the ceiling
Punching a hole in each wall has a chance to randomly reveal a secret room. This is an easy way to not miss any secrets while exploring the woodland mansion. Also, if you decide to knock down the entire roof of this structure, you will be able to see most of the rooms on the second floor and all the rooms on the third floor.
set fire to the structure
Although this method may seem crazy, it is quite safe. You can use flint and steel to start a fire and wait for it to spread. Since most of the woodland mansion is made of wood, when enough blocks are burned, you will be able to see every little secret and detail.
Chests are also not flammable, so they won’t burn. Plus, this method will eliminate dark spots, which means you’ll have to worry about fewer hostile mobs.
However, there are two disadvantages to this. First, you are not really exploring this structure. The Woodland Mansion is a huge building with powerful mobs and the experience of traversing it in the intended way is scary and challenging. This is very attractive to players who like an adrenaline rush.
The other drawback of this method is simply the destruction. Some of the secret rooms and the main rooms are made of wood, so if you decide to burn down the building you will lose them completely.
Loot Box Locations in Woodland Mansion
The woodland mansion is a huge structure with a lot of possible layouts and rooms. Because of this, players may not know where to find loot boxes. So now, we are going to cover all the rooms that contain random loot boxes.
There are several chests that always contain the same contents. See the rooms section above to see them. The rooms in the Woodland Mansion that contain loot chests are:
- Checkerboard Room – The chest is above the entrance.
- X ROOM – The chest is in a corner of the room.
- Gray Banner Room – The chest is behind the cobblestone structure.
- Hallway with Wooden Arches – The chest is at the end of the room.
- Room with a spiral staircase – The chest is at the end of the spiral staircase.
- Bedroom with loft room – the chest is on the loft.
- Clean chest chamber – the chest is exposed in the center.
- Attic Room – There are two chests at either end of the upper platform in this secret room.
- Arena Room – The chest is on the scaffolding.
All the loot in the Woodland Mansion
The mansion is one of the best loot locations. Also, in addition to the loot in the chests, you can find entire blocks of precious materials in secret rooms and killing the evoker gives you one of the most OP items in the game – Totem of Undying . If you’re interested in using this particular item, check out our linked guide.
Also, Vindicators are a great source of emeralds, which is their drop. Consider building a raid farm to stock up on emeralds. Now, let’s see how much loot you can find in the Woodland Mansion and how likely you are to do the same.
